Details Students meet weekly at a physical venue identified by the Squadron offering the course. The sessions are approximately two hours in length and can last up to 12 weeks. Printed course material may be distributed either on the first night or before the start of the course. Some classroom courses offer access to the online version of the course. This course is available in a classroom setting. Weekly class sessions will be simulcast online for students to attend remotely. It focuses on improving your knowledge, understanding, and skills in... Read more navigation and boat safety topics. The classroom and virtual classroom versions of the course cover the fundamentals of traditional navigation – understanding global coordinates, using a magnetic compass, and planning a cruise using paper charts. Boat handling topics include operator and crew responsibilities, managing onboard emergencies, collision avoidance rules, anchoring techniques, docking/undocking techniques, and understanding marine weather forecasts, and tide/current tables. Classes will be held Tuesday evenings 7-9 from November thru March with a holiday break in December and March.
