Courses

Maritime Radio Self Study is on 24/7 on the Moodle interactive learning platform. Register at any time to access the course for 60 days to obtain your Restricted Operators Certificate (Maritime). In Rideau District, the course is offered by Ottawa or Brockville squadrons.  Visit our national CanBoat website and select VHF/ROC(M) to register. Part 1 of the exam is done on line and Part 2 is arranged by contacting the instructor for a video meeting.

Basic Navigation and Boat Handling On Line Course

Ottawa Squadron on-line Basic Navigation and Boat Handing course starts 9 Sep at 7 PM. Participants have 24/7 access to course notes, videos, practice exercises and quizzes for each of the topics covered in the course. Instructors provide assistance on-line 7 – 8:30 PM Tuesday evenings for this eight-week course. Visit www.CanBoat.ca course calendar and select Ottawa Squadron for details and to enrol.

Collins Bay Marina Safety Day 14 June

Collins Bay Marina, 1270 Coventry Drive, Safety Day is Saturday 14 June 1 – 3 PM. Tours of the Coast Guard, RCMP, Kingston Fire boat and BBQ. CanBoat Kingston is offering checks of safety equipment required on your pleasure craft. Expired marine flares will also be collected for safe disposal. Recreation Vessel Courtesy Checks are available at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, Collins Bay Marina, Treasure Island Marina and other locations near Kingston by appointment. Please contact kingstonsafeboating@gmail.com to arrange a visit to your boat to check the safety equipment required is on board.
